PG rules and regulations for tenants: a ready template

Payments and stay

• Rent due on the 5th of each month; late fee of ₹100/day after a 2-day grace period.
• Security deposit refundable within 7 days of move-out after itemised deductions.
• 30 days written notice to vacate; deposit is not the last month’s rent.

Living rules

• Entry timings (if any) stated clearly; digital outpass for overnight absence in student PGs.
• Guests in common areas only, within visiting hours; no overnight guests without approval.
• High-load appliances (heaters, irons, induction) only where permitted — sub-metered rooms bear their own usage.
• Smoking and alcohol prohibited on premises; noise curfew after 10:30 pm.

Safety and conduct

• No tampering with electrical fittings or locks; report faults via the complaint system.
• Management may inspect rooms with prior notice for safety and maintenance.
• Ragging, harassment or violence leads to immediate termination without deposit forfeiture only where law permits deductions for damages.

Enforcing rules fairly

Rules only work when acknowledged in writing and enforced consistently. Digital onboarding that requires tenants to accept the rules annexure — and a ticketing trail for violations — keeps enforcement objective.
